Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu said the Russian company “Silovye Mashiny” will not implement the project to rehabilitate the energy bocks of Termoelectrica. The Government stopped the tender contest that was earlier won by this company after the atrocities committed by the Russian army in Ukraine became known, IPN reports.

Andrei Spînu noted the state annulled the results of the tender contest won by the company “Silovye Mashiny” that is on the list of Western sanctions imposed against Russia following the military aggression against Ukraine.

“On March 18, the company was informed that it won the tender contest, but a number of things happened meanwhile and more sanctions can be imposed soon following the events in Bucha, Irpin. The Government decided not to accept this tender contest and in the immediate period will make the necessary approaches to the World Bank for fully ending this tender contest. We will see what we can do to rehabilitate Termoelectrica,” Andrei Spînu stated in the program “In Depth” on ProTV channel.

The contract with the Russian company hasn’t been signed. The official said “Silovye Mashiny” is the company whose bids didn’t exceed the budget announced by the Government of Moldova.

“The project is designed to rehabilitate what we already have. It wasn’t proposed changing something there. The budget wasn’t unlimited for us to be able to tell that we want the best technology. The budget was of 13 million and not more,” stated Andrei Spînu.

The project to rehabilitate the energy blocks of Termoelectrica in the current form is implemented with the assistance of the World Bank.
