Andrei Soltoianu to form part of Moldova’s team for Davis Cup

Andrei Soltoianu is the fourth tennis player who will form part of Moldova’s team for the Davis Cup. The athlete, who has trained in Germany during the last few years, won the pre-selection stage and will thus join Radu Albot, Andrei Ciumac and Alexandru Cozbinov, IPN reports.

The pre-selection tournament was held in Chisinau for the first time. Soltoianu won all the matches, beating Egor Matvievici, Dmitri Bascov and Maxim Bulat. “I’m very happy. I came here namely for this purpose – to enter the national team. I obtained what I wanted. The German school helped me a lot,” stated the 22-year-old athlete.

Moldova will compete with 15 national team for the promotion to the Davis Cup Group II. The teams will be divided into four groups of four teams and only two of them will reach Group II. The matches of the Europe/Africa Zone Group III will take place in Tallinn on March 2-6.
