Andrei Pantea vacates seat of acting vice prosecutor of Chisinau

Andrei Pantea resigned from the post of acting vice prosecutor of Chisinau municipality. Asked by IPN, the president of the Supreme Council of Prosecutors Mircea Rosioru said the resignation was accepted in the Council’s September 21 meeting.

“It is an ordinary resignation tendered by an employee and the Council accepted it,” stated Mircea Rosioru.

At the beginning of March, Andrei Pantea was dismissed from the post of acting first vice prosecutor general in connection with the expiration of his term. By order of the prosecutor general, he was named acting vice prosecutor of Chisinau. Earlier, the press reported that the Prosecutor General’s Office launched an internal inquiry following the publication of an audio recording where Andrei Pantea discusses over the phone with criminal leader Ion Soltoianu, who is in jail. Andrei Pantea said then that the recording was a fake.
