The leader of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) Andrei Năstase said forces should be now combined and one candidate who will represent the democratic forces should be proposed so that Igor Dodon has no chance of winning. He noted that they took notice of the possibility of the Action and Solidarity Party fielding Maia Sandu as a candidate for President.

“We will ascertain that out effort to join forces by the launched appeal failed and will act as a party usually acts in such conditions. But I would not like to engage in hypothesis now. I still have hope after these rounds of discussions as we discussed with at least three parties and will yet discuss with other parties,” IPN quoted Andrei Năstase as saying in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.

The politician also said that he took notice of the position of the PAS leader Maia Sandu, who opined that a variant is for her and the leader of the PPPDA to run in the upcoming presidential elections. “In 2016, I pleaded for unity. In 2018, only owing to the DA Platform and to me, we could form the ACUM Bloc as the tendency to run separately existed then too. (...) I regret but after reaching Parliament, after the election campaign, even if the DA Platform and I personally insisted on one parliamentary group, as we promised to the people, two parliamentary groups were formed,” stated Andrei Năstase, noting that they supported the same approach in the case of the Chisinau Municipal Council, but it happened differently.

The politician noted that the party he represents always pleaded for unity. “But we envisioned unity for public, national interests, while others saw a unity in the interests of a party, a personality,” he stated.
