The release of Veaceslav Platon directly serves President Igor Dodon, the opportunities, the populists and laypersons and the most serious settling of an old score between mafia clans in Moldova’s recent history is now being witnessed, president of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Andrei Năstase stated in a press briefing.
According to Andrei Năstase, Vladimir Plahotniuc and Veaceslav Platon are artisans of the laundering of money of the Russian mafia in Moldova and of the raider attacks on the financial-banking system that preceded the theft of billions from the people.
The politician noted that Igor Dodon set free Veaceslav Platon, who was jailed by Plahotniuc. “How do you think, what’s next? I cannot say exactly! But I know for sure that Platon will be making the headlines for a long period of time with so-called revelations about Plahotniuc and vice versa. You see that no one speaks about Dodon’s bag any longer. No one speaks about the removal of the current Government now. We no longer speak about the dead people who are buried daily as we did at the start of the pandemic,” he opined.
Andrei Năstase considers Platon’s revelations about Plahotniuc are false themes and the release of Platon shows that the judiciary in Moldova is now used in vendettas against the mafia. “Platon is similar to Plahotniuc. They both did what they did and will really answer for what they did. It is a matter of time,” he stated.
The judges on June 15 ordered to immediately suspend the serving of the sentence passed by the Buiucani branch of the Chisinau City Court on April 20, 2017 against businessman Veaceslav Platon, by which he was given 18 years in jail for swindle, money laundering and active corruption. The Ciocana branch of the Chisinau City Court fully accepted the prosecutor general’s relevant request.
