The Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) will have a candidate in the early local mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality, the party’s leader Andrei Nastase announced in the program “Important” on TVC21 channel, IPN reports.

Andrei Nastase said he asked for support in this regard from the partners from the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and will also ask for support from other political forces and from civil society. “We consider that now we need a powerful candidate for the Chisinau mayoralty, who would have a number of qualities, including would be a professional and a political leader able to beat the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo,” said the leader of the PPPDA. He added that he hasn’t yet received an answer from the PAS.

The decision about the PPPDA’s candidate in the local mayoral elections will be made public after the March 3 meeting of the party’s National Political Council.

Andrei Nastase considers the mayoral elections in the municipality are a good opportunity and a chance for the pro-European, anti-oligarchic, democratic opposition to lay the foundations of an alternative to the central power by a victory in these elections.

According to him, it is evident that Vladimir Plahotniuc and Igor Dodon do not want these elections in the municipality and the decision whether the elections will take place or not will be taken by the “oligarchic regime”.
