The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA), has and can field its own candidate for the presidential elections of 2020. At the same time, it is ready to support a nonparty candidate if a broad pro-European and national front is created, the party’s president Andrei Năstase said in a news conference after the meeting of the PPPDA National Political Council, reading a statement, IPN reports.
According to Andrei Năstase, the name of the party’s candidate for the presidential elections will be made public when time comes.
The politician said the members of the Political Council and the administration of the DA Platform decided to combine forces and to continue struggling for reinstating the European government in Moldova so as to maintain the European course and the democratic values. In connection with the process of reforming and strengthening the party, its executive bodies were remodeled. The number of local representatives in the makeup of the Political Council was increased and new vice presidents were chosen.
Andrei Năstase said the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” launched a broad process of political reconstruction and reformation so as to cope with the challenges of the 2020-2024 political cycle for which the party set the objectives of ensuring the functioning of the rule of law and Moldova’s integration into the common European space.
The platform will aim to investigate the bank and obtain the annulment of the law that makes the repayment of the stolen funds the people’s burden, to improve the health, education and social protection systems and to implement a number of infrastructure projects.
The PPPDA also wants to ensure the authentic reformation of the justice sector by cleaning up the judicial system and the prosecution service and by fighting grand corruption. The fostering of the local economy and Moldova’s integration into the common European space by the strict fulfillment of the obligations stipulated in the Association Agreement with the EU are also among the party’s priorities.
The politician said the National Political Council also analyzed the danger of state re-capture. This danger comes from President Igor Dodon, who depends on particular circles of interest and doubtful financing from outside the country and who managed to subdue the law enforcement agencies, the government, Parliament and over 70% of the broadcasting sector and the media.
“By ill-famed schemes, pressure and interference in the activity of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the legal system, the current occupant of the Presidential Office of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon manages to defer the resonant cases, including those on treason and illegal financing of the PSRM with exorbitant sums coming from suspicious offshore areas that implicate him,” stated Andrei Năstase.
The National Political Council of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” met on December 22.
