Andrei Năstase: Plahotniuc will not return as he knows he will be handcuffed

Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Năstase, Minister of the Interior, said the ex-leader of the Democratic Party Vladimir Plahotniuc will not return to the country as this knows he will be handcuffed if he comes back. In the program “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, he noted Vladimir Plahotniuc enjoys immunity as an MP, but this will be lifted for the usurpation of state power.

“If Harunjen (prosecutor general – e.n.) dallies things, he could witness unpleasant surprises. That’s why I invite him, until it is possible, to start and investigate this case, to take legal action over usurpation of state power by a group of persons that consists of Plahotniuc and his company that includes Apolski, Gurin, Reshetnikov and others,” stated the minister.

He said the persons from the administration of the Prosecutor’s Office do not quit because they delay some of the legal proceedings at the instruction of Vladimir Plahotniuc. “They would leave, but they are blackmailed and are afraid,” stated Andrei Năstase.

According to the politician, by its actions the Prosecutor’s Office does nothing but hamper the recovery of the stolen bank funds. “For this reason, a new prosecutor that would be independent, upright and professional is needed,” he stated, adding it is preferable for this to be a foreigner so that this has no connection with the state institutions of Moldova.
