The leader of the PPPDA Andrei Năstase informed the European bodies about the violation of the right to vote of the Moldovan citizens outside the country. He sent a letter to the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) where he says that the Central Election Commission is inclined to favor some of the political parties’ preferences to defy the rights of the Moldovans abroad to take part in the snap parliamentary elections of July 11, 2021, encroaching on the rights enshrined in the Constitution”, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the PPPDA, Andrei Năstase asked the international observers of the OSCE/ODIHR to request the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to obey and ensure appropriate voting conditions for its citizens, no matter where they are on the election day. According to him, the limitation of the right to vote is a fraud and he therefore notified the European institutions.
“Our request is very simple: the Moldovan citizens should be able to vote on July 11, no matter in which country they are on the election day,” said the politician.
According to him, the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” asked the European institutions to request that the authorities of the Republic of Moldova respect the right to vote of all the citizens and create appropriate conditions for voting. The free expression of the political will by each citizen is the guarantee of a democratic, legitimate Parliament that obeys the law.
