Andrei Năstase, leader of the PDA party and former Minister of the Interior, says he intends to sue President Igor Dodon for slander. The politician says he will take Igor Dodon to court for his recent statements alleging that Nastase, during his MoI tenure, tried to take over contraband schemes and took bribes. The PDA leader says he is an incorruptible man, while Igor Dodon’s statements are part of a propaganda campaign.

Andrei Nastase says he knows that Igor Dodon has presidential immunity, but will sue him anyway. “He may think he has immunity as president when he expresses falsehood. (...) In my case no immunity helps him. I will also sue him in civil court to punish him for slander. I will go to the bitter end. I will take him to all the courts of this world”, said the former minister during the talk-show “Puterea a patra” on N4.

Nastase says there can be no incriminating video evidence, as the president claimed. He also assures that he is not interested in schemes and that, on the contrary, he has exposed several schemes. “I am an incorruptible man, a man who will not be affected by Igor Dodon or the Moscow generals that advise him”, the politician added.

Andrei Năstase has also stated that the investigation into the footage where Igor Dodon appears to discuss with the former PDM leader Vladimir Plahotniuc about the Socialists receiving Russian funding was initiated on his denunciation. The former minister says this investigation was closed for a while, as was the probe into the usurpation of state power, suggesting this was a secret deal between Dodon and Plahotniuc. “After these investigations were closed, including the usurpation case, I made all the necessary steps (...) and today the usurpation probe, which targets members of the old regime, is ongoing”, the politician stated. Năstase added that the investigation into the Socialists’ alleged foreign funding and high treason was also resumed following his intervention.
