"I am a serious and long-term partner for everyone who is legally building in Chișinău, while construction bribes imposed by corrupt officials will disappear." The statement was made by Andrei Năstase, ACUM bloc candidate for the position of mayor of the capital. In a press conference, Andrei Năstase said that, together with advisers and experts from Romania and Europe, he will assess the buildings that are under construction in the capital.
"Our civil and industrial construction regulation approach within the Chișinău municipality area involves all relevant state institutions", said Andrei Năstase.
According to the candidate, bringing in line construction practices with European standards must be done as soon as possible, without compromise. "We will ask the Municipal Council to freeze the transfer of municipal land for lease for the construction of residential blocks until the approval of the new General Urban Plan", said Andrei Năstase.
Also, the candidate said that the alienation of land for commercial constructions should only be done on the basis of public tenders. "We want to set up hot lines in each pretorship, so that residents can report construction violations", said the ACUM bloc mayoral hopeful.
Andrei Năstase added that sanctions must be tightened for construction rules and discipline violations, while the City Hall chief architect should have the right to verify any construction and withdraw building permits in case of illegalities.
"The fairest and most democratic way to stop the chaos in Chișinău City Hall is to vote for a modern and European city. Trust me and the ACUM team and it will be fine", said Andrei Năstase.
The second round of local elections will be held on November 3.
