Andrei Nastase: Decision about common candidate will be taken Oct. 14

The leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPDA) Andrei Nastase said the decision concerning the nomination of a common candidate for President will be taken in a meeting of the party’s Political Council on October 14, IPN reports.

In a posting on Facebook, Andrei Nastase says the party’s suggestion to field him as a common candidate for President, which was constantly made to the dialogue partners – the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) – remains valid until the executive bodies of the PAS give an official and exhaustive answer.

Two days ago, the PPDA offered the PAS time until October 13, 2pm, to react to this proposal. If no answer is given, the PPPDA commits itself to take part in the October 30 presidential elections by supporting the PAS’ candidate for President Maia Sandu in the election campaign.

The results of the second survey commissioned by the parties for being able to choose a common candidate for President with the biggest chances of winning the elections were to be presented on October 12. The three parties - dialogue partners didn’t make statements about the survey results, but particular sources that make reference to the leader of the PLDM said Maia Sandu would be the common candidate.
