The former president of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPDA) Andrei Năstase criticizes the way in which suspended prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo was detained and arrested. According to Năstase, the developments in Stoianoglo case were influenced by the presence of Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco at the meeting of the Superior Council of Prosecutors. Năstase also criticized the way in which the contest as a result of which Natalia Moloșag became ombudswoman was organized, IPN reports.
Andrei Năstase avoided saying if she will compete again for the post of president of PPDA. He noted that no matter what decision is taken at the December 12 meeting of the party’s National Political Council, he will not withdraw from politics and will continue to defend human rights.
“It is the period when applications can be filed. My mate Dinu Plîngău was registered as a candidate and I’m glad about this. There are for now no other candidates, but there is yet time,” Andrei Năstase stated in the program “The Forth Estate” on N4 TV channel.
He leveled criticism at the government and expressed his disapproval of Natalia Moloșag, saying he would like to see her contest test so as to realize how she was selected. He wondered who bears responsibility for that contest and for other contests that weren’t made public.
As to the case of the suspended prosecutor general, Năstase said the Stoianoglo case is an example of televised justice by which developments in the fight against corruption are shown to society.
“It is bread and circuses. Regrettably, there was no bread and they needed a show. What bothered me, and I tell my younger college Litvinenco about this, was the fact that by his presence and behavior then he affected a lot the investigation. The court should decide if Stoianoglo is to blame or not. Do you think I couldn’t have done something like this in 2019 given the authority I enjoyed then? You would have seen Harunjen, Pânzari, Popa, all those who contributed to the usurpation of power in the state not at the Prosecutor’s Office, but in the Great National Assembly Square. I was a national hero then. But I prefer to be not a hero for two-three years, but a law-abiding citizen who does not offend his compatriots,” stated Andrei Năstase.
On December 9, suspended prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo was released from house arrest and was placed under judicial control for a 30-day period by a decision taken by the Chisinau Appeals Court.
