Andi Cristea: Pro-European parties continued old practice

The European Union will resume to provide financing to Moldova only when the country signs the agreement with the IMF, Romanian MEP Andi Cristea said in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

The MEP said the EU expects Moldova to achieve concrete results. “Our common interest is related to progress. I look at things with the heart of a Romanian, while the others from Europe look with considerable seriousness and strictness. Everything depends on results. The relations between the EU and Moldova entered the phase of exchange of responsibilities. When an agreement with the IMF is in place, the financing lines will be restarted. The results come first of all from Moldova to the EU and then vice versa,” he stated.

Andi Cristea expressed his concern about the political crisis in Moldova. “I’m concerned about the lack of stability. In the Republic of Moldova, the political situation is fragile and volatile. The relationship between the EU and Moldova has been marked by a state of expectation during a year already. This is due to three governments that came and left. The people are dissatisfied and have reasons to be so. Since 2009, the pro-European parties have continued the old practice, but now they have to learn the less pleasant lesson,” he stated.
