The former president of the Senate of Romania Anca Dragu will be suggested for the position of governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), IPN reports, with reference to Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.
“In today’s plenary sitting of Parliament, I will propose Anca Dragu for the position of governor of the National Bank of Moldova,” Igor Grosu wrote on social media.
Igor Grosu noted that Anca Dragu has important experience in the financial-banking sector and in public and EU accession policies. Anca Dragu had worked for more than 15 years at the National Bank of Romania and the International Monetary Fund and served as Minister of Public Finance in the Romanian Government. In 2020, she was elected president of the Romanian Senate.
“I’m fully confident that Anca Dragu will build an independent and upright National Bank of Moldova,” the Speaker wrote.
