2024 was a historic year for Moldova, as the European Union opened its doors wide, and the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) played an active role in the accession process. This was stated by BNM Governor Anca Dragu in an end-of-year message, IPN reports.
"Through constant dialogue and strategic reforms, we have strengthened relations with external partners, consolidating Moldova's position in the world", said the BNM Governor.
According to Anca Dragu, in 2024, Chișinău became a genuine international financial hub, hosting top leaders at the Constituency Meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
"This event demonstrated that Moldova is ready to become part of the European family, embracing its values: peace, solidarity, and human dignity", remarked the Governor.
She added that every fifth active person in Moldova benefits from instant payments via the MIA system, making every transaction faster, safer, and easier.
Additionally, progress toward SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) integration continues steadily. The year 2024 marked significant advancements in digitization and financial infrastructure, bringing direct benefits to citizens.
"These achievements are complemented by the BNM's efforts to maintain the stability of the national currency and manage inflation. Beyond the numbers, these measures reflect a commitment to building confidence in the country's economy", stated Anca Dragu.
The BNM Governor urged people to look forward to the coming year with optimism and determination to continue building a country they can be proud of.
