Anatol Usatîi: Moldova meets conditions for obtaining loans and grants from abroad

The Republic of Moldova meets all the conditions for obtaining loans and grants from the development partners. The statement belongs to the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Anatol Usatîi, and was made on Moldova 1 public television station. According to him, discussions are being held with the development partners, as well as with certain states that could contribute financially to the development of the infrastructure, without which it is not possible to achieve economic growth, reports IPN.

Anatol Usatîi maintains that negotiations with the Russian Federation for obtaining the $ 500-million credit have already been launched. Talks are also ongoing with the development partners: the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, the European Commission. The minister says that talks with China, Belarus are also conducted. “We need infrastructure financing. We have already discussed about the construction of 1400 kilometers of roads, for which 1.4 billion euros are required. We do not believe that we can obtain this amount from a single source of financing,” emphasized Anatol Usatîi.

“Many things need to be done in parallel. We have entered into negotiations with a Chinese company financing a very large project called the "Silk Road". If we talk about the construction of the entire Chisinau ring road, including the new sections, which should be built across the field, this project amounts to 300 million euros”, announced Anatol Usatîi.

Economic expert Viorel Gârbu believes that roads are not built just for the sake of building. When the Government comes up with certain initiatives, it must think of a synergistic effect: the road must link certain economic zones, facilitate their functioning, contribute to the development of the national economy as a whole. "It is not a secret that Moldova is an economic failure. Our economy failed. We could not produce anything. Our economy is based on remittances and consumption of imported products. For almost 30 years of independence, we have not demonstrated the ability to identify a sustainable economic growth model that would be coherently promoted by all governments and would produce results”, stressed the expert.
