The ex-deputy chairman of the Liberal Party and ex-minister of defense Anatol Salaru constituted an initiative group to found a new party of the right, which consists of Liberal MPs Artur Gutium and Vladimir Cernat and of former MPs, ministers and high-ranking officials. The ex-Liberal heavyweight made the announcement in the program “In depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

Anatol Salaru said he is supported by current and former officials of Romania and the EU. “We enjoy external support. We had discussions with different persons there, not only with Traian Basescu, with different European officials who are concerned about what happens to the parties of the right in our country. They are ready to offer us their support,” stated Salaru.

“The solution is to bring Romania and Europe to us. We must convince the people so that the number of unionists increases. When we are sure the unionists represent over 51%, we can speak about the union. But we must do this by concrete deeds, not slogans. A Chisinau-Bucharest highway would be more convincing than all the slogans. Romania is ready to continue to invest in our country.”

The ex-minister expressed his confidence that the party they intend to create will achieve results. “When I was 25, I founded and headed the cenacle “Mateevici”, which laid the foundations of the National Liberation Movement. There are many valuable people who didn’t identify themselves with other parties. They are heavyweights of this movement, ex-leaders of the People’s Front. We aim to create a party with growth potential, which would enter Parliament,” said Anatol Salaru
