The Liberal Party cannot be re-launched at present, at least not in the current composition with Mihai Ghimpu, executive president of the National Unity Party, ex-member of the PL Anatol Salaru stated in the program “Important” on TVC21 channel, IPN reports.

According to him, the PL cannot be re-launched even if the Mayor of Chisinau proves his innocence, especially because this wanted to leave the party even before his arrest. “The Liberal Party was discredited not only from ideological viewpoint, but also from moral viewpoint. Many of the leaders of the PL are associated with corruption,” said Anatol Salaru, adding it will be hard for Mihai Ghimpu to demonstrate that he is honest.

As to the party he leads, Anatol Salaru said it will reach Parliament after the 2018 elections and if the president of honor of the National Unity Party Traian Basescu has Moldovan nationality, he will run in these elections. “Traian Basescu will campaign and we will accompany him everywhere,” stated the politician.
