Moldova’s Anastasia Nikita won a gold medal at the Zagreb Open international wrestling tournament. The wrestler trained by Tudor Cîrlan scored four victories in the 59 kg weight class, against Azerbaijan’s Alyona Kolesnik, Japan’s Yui Sakano and Hungary’s Viktoria Borsos and Nikolett Szabo, IPN reports.
Irina Rîngaci (68 kg) won a bronze medal. In the semifinals, she was beaten by Koumba Larroque of France, while in the last match she defeated Solin Piearcy of the U.S. Greco-Roman wrestler Alexandrin Guțu reached the finals, but lost narrowly to Mohammadali Geraei of Iran.
The competition in Zagreb will also involve Iulia Leorda (53 kg), Artiom Deleanu (55 kg), Vitalie Eremenko (63 kg) and Valentin Petic (72 kg).
