The Council of Europe, in cooperation with the Central Electoral Commission and the Center for Continuous Electoral Training, launched an analysis of all recommendations and proposals issued by the International Election Observation Missions (IEOMs) between 2014-2021, as well as Venice Commission’s (VC) opinions on the amendments to Moldova’s electoral legislation and legislation on political financing, the Council of Europe said in a press release.
For the first time, the Moldovan authorities are provided with a comprehensive analytical document indicating the level of implementation, and/or non-implementation, of the relevant IEOMs’ and VC’s recommendations and opinions. This will serve as a basis for further steps to improve both the electoral legislation and electoral processes in the Republic of Moldova.
This work has been carried out with the expert support of the Venice Commission. The results will be presented publicly to the electoral bodies, decision-makers and civil society organizations of Moldova at the end of October 2021, says the press release.
