The Ukrainian President’s message concerning Russia’s plan to change the political power in Chisinau is not something new, said Minister of Home Affairs Ana Revenco. According to her, the Moldovan authorities know about the Kremlin’s intentions to destabilize the situation in the country through protests, energy blackmail, bomb hoaxes and media propaganda. The official noted dangers to Moldova’s security still exist and actions typical of a hybrid war continue to be witnessed, IPN reports.
In his speech before the European leaders on Thursday, Volodymyr Zelensky said that he informed President Maia Sandu about Russia’s plans to change the Government in Chisinau. He noted that the Ukrainian intelligence services came into possession of documents showing that the Kremlin intends to take over political control in Moldova.
“This message is not something new for us. What were the so-called protests mounted last autumn about? What were the series of false bomb threats about? What were all the cybersecurity attacks about? Massive and continuous propaganda? What is the energy blackmail that generates price rises about? These are all elements of a hybrid war designed to radicalize society and to determine a dramatic destabilization level. These are all part of a plan designed to change the country’s democratic course,” Ana Revenco stated in the program “The Shadow Cabinet” on JurnalTV channel.
Moreover, the minister noted the risks to Moldova’s security persist and the law intervenes promptly to foil obscure forces’ plans to destabilize the situation and to cause tensions in society.
“We continue being confronted with this hybrid war. We are all witness to a perverse media war. Actions continue to be taken to radicalize society, to fuel profound distrust in the authorities, to distract the Government’s attention from its development agenda. The measures taken by the police and other law enforcement agencies are aimed at preventing an escalation and at avoiding a dramatic situation. These urgent crisis intervention measures do not enable us to focus on the country development agenda to the wanted extent. Those are all well-thought-out elements of a scenario designed to stage a change. The dangers remain the same. We continue to have a war close to our border. This means we can anytime have a new wave of refugees,” said the minister.
After President Zelensky informed about Russia’s plans to gain control over the Republic of Moldova, the Presidential Office in Chisinau said the responsible institutions work to ensure the country’s security and use all the information support of the partners so as to anticipate and prevent any attempt to undermine the state.
