An international mission is in Moldova, on 20 – 24 February, to contribute to evaluate the necessities in case of a possible bird flu epidemic. According to the report of the Ministry of Health and Social protection, the mission, composed of two representatives of the World Health Organisation and two representatives of World Bank will contribute to draft a support project of capacities of the institutions of bird flu prophylaxis, diagnosis and treatment. The mission will undertake a set of visits to virus laboratories of the National Preventive Medicine Scientific-Practical Centre, Sanitary-Veterinary Service and will collect data on organising measures of prophylaxis at the border. While being in Chisinau, foreign epidemiologists will meet with the representatives of international organisations in Moldova.
