A delegation of the International Monetary Fund will visit the Republic of Moldova between January and February 2020. Prime Minister Ion Chicu and the head of the IMF mission to the Republic of Moldova, Ruben Atoyan, agreed today, November 25, at a meeting, on the necessary steps to expand the program with the IMF, which expires in March 2020, reports IPN.
In a Government press release, it is mentioned that the two officials set the priorities for future cooperation. The prime minister appreciated the importance of IMF support for the Republic of Moldova. He also stressed the Government's openness towards extending cooperation with the IMF through new programs and technical assistance projects.
Ruben Atoyan, quoted in the Government's press release, has stated that the IMF is ready to support the Republic of Moldova in the process of implementing reforms. The head of the mission specified that it would be beneficial if the government made headway in implementing the reforms in the financial and fiscal sector, as well as in investigating the banking fraud.
Further, the officials exchanged opinions regarding the current state of the national economy, the plans for attracting investments into our country, but also the prospects of GDP growth.
