AMN suggests March 22 as date for elections

Four MP representing the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) Party submitted a motion proposing that the parliamentary elections be held on Sunday, March 22, 2009, Info-Prim Neo reports. “This legislative initiative comes after the representatives of the ruling party have crated an atmosphere of incertitude about the time frame of the upcoming parliamentary elections, which worries the entire society and the foreign observers”, the AMN said in a public statement. The AMN faction will insist that the Parliament's Standing Bureau consider the motion before the current parliamentary session closes on December 26, calling on all the MPs to endorse it. The term of the current parliament is due to expire on March 7, 2009. According to the Election Code, the date for elections shall be appointed at least 60 days before polling day.
