AMN proposes programs for youth and women

The women's organization and the youth wing of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) Party have proposed a set of programs to promote youth and women, which they consider paramount in making progress in every other area, Info-Prim Neo reports.
AMN vice president Natalia Ciobanu, who is also the chairperson of the party's woman organization, told a news conference today that the country cannot develop effectively when more than a half of its people do not participate in decision-making. Greater involvement of the women in the political life will positively influence economic growth, she said.
One of AMN's proposals is to introduce an optional course in schools on gender equality and equal opportunities. Eugenia Ciumac, a member of the AMN women's organization, also spoke about the need to create an HR Center to help women develop their businesses. “The aim of this Center will be to develop a system to offer guarantees, loans and co-financing. This is the only way to support the enterprises run by women in key areas”, said Eugenia Ciumac.
Viorel Savva, the chairman of the AMN youth organization, said the party intends to implement a nationwide government-subsidized program to provide the youth with housing at affordable rent as well as financial assistance to help them start businesses in rural areas.
Other proposals concerning the youth are to help graduates find jobs, introduce a program to prevent school dropout and combat drug use, extend Internet connections to all schools.
The news conference was also an occasion to launch a sequel to the on-line flash game “Fearless Serafica”, a reference to AMN leader Serafim Urecheanu, whose avatar engages in karate-style combat with his political arch-enemies, the Communists and the Christian-Democrats.
The AMN's electoral slate for the upcoming poll contains 38 women and 26 young persons.
