AMN local councilors call on people to support government coalition
The meeting of the local councilors of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) last weekend was held behind closed doors owing to its agenda, the party's first vice president Victor Osipov told a news conference on March 30. Osipov said the agenda included a thorough analysis of the work of the AMN, including during the last legislative elections. The councilors agreed a number of strategic objectives for the local general elections of 2011, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the first vice president of the AMN, a modernization plan was adopted at the last meeting of the party's National Council, while the recent meeting of the local councilors is the first of a number of measures aimed at reformation and invigoration. Valeriu Cosarciuc, Leonid Bujor and Vasile Balan were elected as members of the party's Central Standing Bureau, Osipov said.
He also said that the meeting of the local councilors showed again that the political changes initiated in the party's administration go deeper now. But many participants expressed their dissatisfaction with the pace at which the changes take place. “Criticism was leveled at the administration of the party and the Alliance for European Integration,” Victor Osipov said, stressing that this is normal and the criticism should be taken into account.
The meeting of the local councilors adopted an appeal to the population. “The future local elections will be held in extremely difficult economic conditions. Therefore, we must concentrate our efforts on finding real solutions to the problems faced by the people and the communities,” it is said in the appeal. The local councilors of the AMN call on the people to support the government coalition.
In the local elections of 2007, the AMN obtained about 200 seats on the local councils and more than 200 seats on the district councils.
