AMN leader suggests returning to “zero variant” of majority coalition in CMC

The president of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) Serafim Urecheanu proposes returning to the “zero variant” of the non-communist alliance in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) and restarting immediately the negotiations according to the model that brought success to the democratic forces in most of the districts of Moldova In a statement issued on September 26, the AMN leader calls on all the non-communist forces in the CMC to engage actively in the creation of a broad, functional and efficient democratic coalition that will serve the interests of the capital city and of its residents. Serafim Urecheanu says that it is rather probable that the central authorities could cancel the decisions taken by the Council before its functional structure is created, as required by the law, while the new Mayor General would have to deal with undeserved trials that would hinder his activity. The AMN president calls on all the non-communist forces in the CMC to find urgently a solution to overcome the obstacles and elect the new management of the CMC and the local administration. The majority coalition in the CMC was formed at the end of June after the leaders of four democratic political organizations - the Liberal Party, Our Moldova Alliance, the Christian Democratic People’s Party and the Democratic Party - had signed a constitution agreement. The coalition is composed of 26 councillors. This is the minimum number required to form a majority. To date, the coalition could not elect the chairperson of the CMC and the deputy mayors of Chisinau.
