AMN indignant at government’s attitude towards fight against drug trafficking

The Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) expresses its indignation at the government’s attitude towards the fight against trafficking in drugs, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the party. At a news conference on July 16, Veaceslav Untila, first vice president of the AMN, said that the Communist government ignored a number of important proposals for improving the fight against trafficking in drugs submitted by foreign experts. Consequently, the situation has worsened significantly. The AMN said that it came into possession of a document addressed by the secretary of the Supreme Security Council Ion Morei to President Vladimir Voronin. “In this document, Ion Morei informs Vladimir Voronin that a group of foreign experts in drug combating worked in Moldova in September 2007 and recommended formulating a state strategy for combating trafficking in drugs, setting up two-three regional anti-drug organizations and creating a specialized database,” the AMN says in its communiqué.
