The constraints imposed on minors will be excluded and substituted with educative measures. The Government approved relevant amendments and supplements to the Penal Code and other legal acts that refer to the juvenile justice system, IPN reports.
Thus, the minors who committed an offense will be included in deviant behavior correction and social reintegration programs, mandatory general education courses or qualification courses. The court of law will take into account the minor’s age, the social environment in which this lives and grows and the punishment term based on the type of the committed offense and the damage caused by this.
The bill to amend and supplement the legal acts was drafted in connection with the implementation of the justice sector reform strategy and in accordance with the international commitments undertaken by Moldova. Its goal is to ensure child-friendly and accessible justice centering on the needs and rights of the children.
