The amendment of the Constitution for enshrining the European course in this will be examined by the current Parliament in the autumn-winter session, Speaker Andrian Candu stated in a news conference that centered on the results of the spring-summer session, IPN reports.
The Speaker said the upcoming session will be the shortest one, of only three months. Emphasis will be placed on the already proposed initiatives. The amendment of the Constitution is a priority. “I hope a lot that the discussions and consultations we will have with the pro-European opposition of Moldova’s Parliament – I refer to the groups of the PLDM and PL - will be successful and we will find the votes needed to amend the Constitution so as to come closer to the EU faster and better,” stated Andrian Candu.
He also said that the Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities in the second half of September will present its findings concerning the invalidation of the Chisinau mayoral elections and recommendations concerning the modification of the electoral legislation.
The Speaker said intense work in September and October will be done on the budgetary-fiscal policy and state budget for 2019 so that these are adopted in the middle of November. The parliamentary control will remain a priority in the autumn session. Hearings within commissions will continue to be held.
The autumn-winter session starts on September 3.
