Amendments to the draft Audiovisual Code (CA) will be discussed at the national conference „CA Draft: expertise and contributions of civil society”. At the conference will be discussed proposals of improving the audiovisual’s juridical frame, formulated by the representatives of civil society during public debates and working meetings organized and held in Chisinau, in April-May, by Mass-Media NGOs and the Institute for Public Policy. The proposals will be subsequently submitted to the profile parliamentary commission. In April – May 2006, in Chisinau, 5 public debates were held, organized by the representatives of civil society, where numerous proposals to change CA draft were made. These regarded the majority of draft articles, including those on appointing and functioning of the Audiovisual Coordinating Council; financing procedures for public institutions; conditions of issuing licenses to radiobroadcasters, etc. The conference will be held on May 29-30, at the Dedeman hotel, at 10:00 AM. The Institute for Public Policy is organizing the event with the financial support of the Swedish International development and Cooperation Agency and Soros-Moldova Foundation.
