The Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (AMDM) has recalled off the pharmaceutical market all medications that contain the active substance Valsartan, which is produced by Chinese manufacturer Zheijang Huahai Pharmaceuticals Co. Ltd. Meanwhile it has ceased distribution to pharmacies and medical institutions of 22 medical products by the same manufacturer, as they contain this active substance, IPN reports.
AMDM specifies in a press release that the European Medicines Agency has issued a warning regarding the impurity known as N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) within the active substance Valsartan produced by Chinese manufacturer Zheijang Huahai Pharmaceuticals.
The State Nomenclature contains 28 other medical products that contain the active substance Valsartan, produced by other manufacturers, which haven’t been affected by the presence of the impurity that poses increased risks to health. Medications containing the active substance Valsartan are used to treat certain cardiovascular conditions.
