Prime Minister Pavel Filip requested the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment to prepare a draft Government decision by which ambrosia will be put again on the list of banned plants. The subject was discussed at the start of the September 5 meeting of the Cabinet given the increase in the number of reported cases of allergy to ambrosia, IPN reports.
“This plant is highly allergenic. When it is included in this list, those who will break the law could be fined,” stated Pavel Filip.
According to specialists, ambrosia is very dangerous, in particular after pollination. This plant has spread extensively during the last few years. It grows by the roadside and on fallow ground, in gardens, among grain plants and sunflower. It causes an allergic reaction and aggravates bronchial asthma at the end of summer and the start of autumn.
