The heads of the Diplomatic and Consular Missions to Moldova participate during July 24-27 in a reunion where different aspects of Moldovan diplomacy and activity of the diplomatic missions in the light of implementing foreign affairs priorities of the Republic of Moldova will be tackled. On Monday, July 24, at the beginning of the reunion, the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration presented to the diplomats some information on the diplomatic efforts undertaken in t Minister Andrei Stratan declared in this context that this year the Moldovan diplomacy marks 15 years of activity, period which was characterized by achievements and difficult moments. Among the main issues to be discussed are included: the role of diplomatic missions in settling the Transnistrian conflict; economic and humanitarian aspects of the Moldovan diplomacy, promoting the image of the Republic of Moldova, trade and attracting foreign investments; the activity of protecting state’s and citizen’s interests abroad; the problem of migration and trafficking in human beings. The agenda for Tuesday includes meetings with diplomats and with the speaker of the Parliament, Marian Lupu and prime-minister Vasile Tarlev. A joint meeting with the president of the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin and then separate meetings with the head of state is planned for the next day. On Wednesday the reunion’s participants will visit the Science Academy of Moldova and will meet with its representatives. In the same day a round table with the directors of the news agencies of the Republic of Moldova will take place. On July 27, the heads of the Diplomatic and Consular Missions will pay a visit to Ungheni raion. The previous reunion of the Moldovan ambassadors took place in the summer of 2004. The Republic of Moldova has 20 embassies abroad.
