The Member States of the European Union will support the Republic of Moldova on its path of European integration and in the fight against the COVDI-19 pandemic and its consequences, Italy’s Ambassador to Moldova Valeria Biagiotti and Austria’s Ambassador in Chisinau Christine Freilinger stated in the program “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.
“For us, the economic development and prosperity of the Republic of Moldova are of major importance. We encourage the reforms that help improve the business climate and contribute to the development of the business community, that enable to respond to the business community’s request concerning transparency and the preeminence of the law. Reforms really matter and therefore they should embrace the business community and should pursue the goal of improving the situation of small and medium-sized enterprises so that these efforts help to make a prosperous place of Moldova,” Christine Freilinger was quoted by IPN as saying.
As to the COVID-19 pandemic, Christine Freilinger said the Republic of Moldova will benefit from Austria’s support. “We want to make sure that Moldova is a safe country. We want to offer all the necessary assistance and will later make sure that Moldova can recover economically and we already have considerable sums to ensure the creation of jobs and to offer the Republic of Moldova the chance to initiate new economic ideas so as to revitalize the sectors that already exist, with new energy, new ideas and this will center on small and medium-sized enterprises,” noted the diplomat.
For her part, Valeria Biagiotti said that the next Eastern Partnership Summit will analyze the results achieved by the six member countries.
“We follow attentively the cooperation with all our neighbors and eagerly wait for this summit to take place as it is expected to review and analyze all the results achieved within this cooperation formwork. I think this partnership is very important not only for forging closer ties between the EU and its partners, but also for ensuring closer connections between the EaP countries. We consider it is important to cooperate within the current framework as it turned out to be efficient and delivered concrete, tangible results,” stated Valeria Biagiotti.
The Eastern Partnership (EaP) is a joint initiative of the European External Action Service of the European Union together with EU, its Member States, and six Eastern European Partners governing its relationship with the post-Soviet states of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
