Ambassador of Poland: We care about wellbeing and future of our friends

Poland’s Ambassador in Chisinau Bartlomiej Zdaniuk said his country supported and will continue to support the Republic of Moldova in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the aid provided to hospitals in Moldovan was purchased from Moldovan producers so as to support them in this period of restrictions, IPN reports.

“This is an important thing for us. There is a word that should be mentioned here, namely “solidarity”. We care about the wellbeing and future of our friends and neighbors. We care about the future of the region, the wellbeing of the people who live in this part of the world. This way we developed a number of programs and implemented development projects, as in the case of the Republic of Moldova. In connection with the pandemic, we came up with the idea of transmitting medical assistance in the form of masks, protective clothing and disinfectant. We not only transmitted already this assistance to several medical units, but will yet transmit more aid to other localities, including from the Transnistrian region,” Bartlomiej Zdaniuk stated in the talk show “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.

The diplomat said the donated equipment wasn’t brought from abroad, but was purchased from Moldovan producers. This way the Embassy aims to support business entities that are in difficulty in this period.

“The Polish budget funds were used to buy this equipment from producers of the Republic of Moldova. We didn’t come from Poland with this aid. We bought it from local producers so that they keep the jobs and these firms become stronger, more flexible and better prepared for the future,” noted the ambassador.

Bartlomiej Zdaniuk said that this is not the only aid. The Embassy of Poland in Chisinau is now purchasing new aid for the Moldovan medical system.

“We intend to bring another aid from abroad, but the process lasts. We will boast when the donation is completed as things go on. I now speak only about direct, bilateral assistance. Also, we are members of the EU that provided €140 million for the whole area of the Eastern Partnership, €87 million for Moldova, €100 million in the old macro-financial assistance that is waiting to be used, but particular conditions undertaken by the Republic of Moldova should be met”.

In this connection, Ambassador Bartlomiej Zdaniuk called on society to show dignity in this time of pandemic. “We should avoid particular games, activities that are accepted in a normal period. In the current period, I think there is no place for attempts to gain something, political or economic benefits in this situation. I don’t think someone will gain from this. I believe we should better show modesty and try and do what can be done”.
