The United States of America will continue to help Moldova, regardless of the results of the November 30 elections, U.S. Ambassador in Chisinau William H. Moser said in a program on RTR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
The diplomat said the United States had very good relations with Moldova during the previous governments too and will respect the will of the Moldovan people, though he anyway expects certain results.
Asked to pronounce on the neutrality status of Moldova and its prospects of joining NATO, William H. Moser said the U.S. government is not bothered by this status. “We respect the choices made by your people. There are others countries with neutrality status with which the U.S. has very good relations, like Sweden and the Netherlands. The status of neutrality does not hinder us from helping the Moldovan army with its equipment,” stated the ambassador.
He noted that a referendum on the Association Agreement with the EU is not necessary and gave as example his country. “We also created free economic areas with Mexico and Canada and the decisions were taken by the U.S. Congress, without any referendum,” said Moser.
