Ambassador Golovatiuc recalled to Chisinau

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration recalled to Chisinau the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Russian Federation Vladimir Golovatiuc for consultations, for an indefinite period of time, so as to clarify the method of managing the diplomatic mission and aspects of his behavior, the Ministry’s spokesman Daniel Vodă stated for IPN.

“With reference to the multiple requests made by media outlets, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration noted that until all the circumstances of this case are clarified, it will not make comments over the information disseminated by the national media, with the mention that the Ministry promotes zero tolerance of abuses of any type. The respect and protection of human dignity are among the basic principles by which the diplomatic service abides,” said the quoted source.

The press reported that Vladimir Golovatiuc sexually harassed a female employee of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow.

Vladimir Golovatiuc was named Ambassador to the Russian Federation last December. His predecessor Andrei Neguţa was removed after anabolic steroids were found in a diplomatic vehicle on a service mission on the Moscow – Chisinau – Moscow road.
