Ambassador Filip Teodorescu no more persona non grata in Moldova

The official Chisinau annulled the documents whereby Ambassador Filip Teodorescu was declared persona non grata in Moldova. At the same time, Moldova and Romania consider the possibility of signing the Basic Political Treaty as soon as possible. The statements were made by Foreign Ministers Iurie Leanca and Catalin Predoiu at a meeting in Bucharest, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I hope you share the opinion that this was a positive move. But I wonder whether it was necessary to create such a situation,” Lenca said, quoted by the newspaper “Adevarul” (“Truth”). Ambassador Filip Teodorescu was declared persona non grata by the Communist government immediately after the April 7 protests. Romania was then accused of involvement in the Chisinau protests, but no proof has been yet presented. At the meeting held on November 12 on the sidelines of the Summit of CEI Foreign Ministers, Iurie Leanca and his Romanian counterpart Catalin Predoiu agreed to resume the talks on the Basic Political Treaty. Catalin Predoiu said the treaty is a very important legal instrument that must be negotiated and signed as soon as possible. Iurie Leanca stressed that a strategic partnership will lay at the basis of this document that will government the relations between Chisinau and Bucharest.
