Ambassador Andreas Peschke of Germany to visit Chisinau

Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, Ambassador Andreas Peschke will be paying a visit to the Republic of Moldova during December 14-16. According to the Embassy of Germany in Moldova, in meetings with President Igor Dodon and representatives of the Government, the sides will discuss topical issues concerning the bilateral relations, IPN reports.

Meetings were scheduled with European partners, Head of the OSCE Mission, Ambassador Michael Scanlan and with representatives of civil society.

Ambassadorial Peschke will be making his third visit to Moldova in this position. In September 2015, he had the first discussions in Chisinau, while in March 2016 he was in Moldova as part of a joint visit with his Slovak counterpart Dusan Dacho.

The Federal Republic of Germany established diplomatic relations with Moldova in 1992, offering in the period support for the political, economic and social transformation processes in the country. Germany is making effort particularly to consolidate democracy, the rule of law and civil society, supporting simultaneously the sustainable economic development in Moldova, says the Embassy’s press release.

Within the bilateral cooperation in the economic and development sectors, the Federal Republic of Germany already offered over €120 million to Moldova. The promotion of the German language and implementation of cultural projects also form part of Germany’s commitment in Moldova.
