Although more expensive, more medical insurances were sold this year

The individuals who bought medical insurances from the Fund of Compulsory Medical Assistance Insurances (FAOAM) until March 31, paid about MDL 44.9 mln, beating forecasts by 61.4%. This sum constitutes 4.6% of the total receipts of the fund. The compulsory medical insurance for 2007 costs MDL 1209, being by MDL 400 more expensive than the last year. The compulsory medical assistance premium, calculated as percent of salaries and other payments was set at 5%, against 4% in 2006, of which 2.5% will be paid by the employer and 2.5% by the employee. The total sum collected by FAOAM in the first quarter amounted to about MDL 983, by 3.3% more compared with forecasts. About MDL 600 mln, or 61% of the total resources, were collected by means of the premiums paid by the state budget for insuring the unemployed persons. The premiums paid by the employers and employees amounted to MDL 338 mln, by 4.5% more than the planned sums. This revenue category has a share of 34.4% of the total income of FAOAM. The fund of compulsory medical insurances for 2007 was set at MDL 1.937 bln, both for incomes and expenses. The compulsory medical premiums in the total incomes of the fund paid by the employers and employees will constitute MDL 705 mln, the fixed premiums, purchased directly from the beneficiaries – MDL 35 mln. For the first time, sources are planned for the insurance of foreign citizens and stateless persons totalling MDL 850 thousand. For the persons included in the disadvantaged category of population, which benefit from free of charge insurances, MDL 1.19 bln will be allotted About 94% of the expenses for the compulsory medical assistance will be directed to paying medical services, 2% will be transferred to the prophylaxis fund and 2% - to the reserve fund and 1.4% (MDL 27 mln) will be used to cover the administrative expenses of the National Centre for Medical Insurances. The sums for urgent medical assistance will grow by 21%, those for primary medical assistance by 42%, hospital assistance – by 24%, for advanced medical services – by 87%, for medical assistance at home – by 175%. This year, the state will supplementary compensate the premiums for the persons which take care of first degree disabled children, for the mothers with seven and more children. Also, the MPs promised that when changes are introduced in the budget, the Parliament will extend the number of beneficiaries and will include the mothers with four and more children.
