The Alternative Democratic Platform turned into the Democratic Action Party (PAD). MP Mihai Godea, who is one of the organization’s founding members, said the PAD will be a reforming, European, proactive party that will aim to bring an honest and efficient political class in power, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Mihai Godea, the party is ready to cooperate both with the Alliance for European Integration and civil society. “We decided to offer society a new political model, an alternative to what is happening in the country. The PAD is what Moldova needs now. It will represent the people’s views and aspirations,” said Mihai Godea. He also said that the decision to found a new political party was taken by the unanimous vote of the members of the Alternative Democratic Platform. The legal foundation procedure will last for up to six weeks and will end with the constitution congress. Local organizations will be created in all the districts of the country. The new party will plead for holding referendums on matters of major interest and for the direct election of the head of state. The PAD’s platform stipulates the guaranteeing of individual freedom and equality before the law. Education and culture will be of a high quality. The party also promises to reform the central and local public administration, the legal system and the law enforcement bodies and to cultivate intolerance of corruption. The newly created party does not yet have a head. The method of electing the chairman is to be decided and, according to Mihai Godea, will be democratic. Mihai Godea launched the Alternative Democratic Platform on June 23, 2011, arguing the liberal democracy turned out to be a myth used in election campaigns. Among the founding members of the new party are public personalities and opinion leaders, including Corneliu Gurin, of the Association for Participatory Democracy, Viorel Chivriga, of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, adviser to the Education Minister Andrei Munteanu, businessmen, lawyers, etc.
