Almost half of holders of health insurance in fixed amount paid premium though MPay

The number of persons who paid the mandatory health insurance premium in fixed amount through the government e-payment gateway MPay increased significantly in 2020. Of the 63,210 persons who paid the insurance premium in fixed amount, over 26,000 or 41% made the payment through MPay, IPN reports, quoting the National Health Insurance Company.

In the structure of mandatory health insurance funds, the insurance premiums in percentage represented over 56%. The transfers from the state budget intended for categories insured by the Government constituted 41%, while another almost 2% were revenues from the paid insurance premium in fixed amount.

The mandatory health insurance premium for 2021 can be paid with discounts until March 31 inclusive. This way, farmland owners enjoy a reduction of 75% and pay 1,014 lei through the National Health Insurance Company’s local services for relations with beneficiaries.

The private individuals who work independently in retail trade, except for trade in goods on which excise duties are paid, benefit from a 60% reduction and pay 1,622.40 lei. The founders of individual enterprises, patent holders, lessors, lessees and other citizens who are not employed and are not insured by the Government, foreign citizens with the right to stay temporarily in the Republic of Moldova pay 2,028 lei, which is 50% of the health insurance premium. The health insurance premium in full amount is 4,056 lei, as last year.

In 2020, 88% of Moldova’s population had mandatory health insurance.
