Nearly 98,000 people took part in the open election of the candidates for seats of MP of the Democratic Party (PDM) on September 28. After the polling places were closed, the ballot boxes were sealed up and were to be taken to the totaling center in Chisinau, which was specially set up for collecting the ballots, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the party.
“After the voting process is closed at 8pm, all the ballot boxes will be taken to Chisinau by the heads of the local election commissions and will be stored at the totaling center in Chisinau. The vote count starts on Monday. The process will involve about 200 observers and people from all the country’s districts. We took all the measures for the ballot counting process to be as correct and transparent as possible,” said the chairman of the PDM’s Election Commission Sergiu Sirbu.
The PDM established 42 polling places in all the country’s districts and two polling places in Italy for the September 28 election. Based on the election results, the Democratic Party will compile its list of candidates for the November 30 parliamentary elections.
