Combat engineers of the National Army last year discovered and neutralized 679 explosives on the country’s territory, namely in villages of Stefan Voda, Causeni, Cantemir, Soroca, Orhei and Anenii Noi districts, IPN reports.
Lieutenant-Colonel Sergey Chilivnic, head of the Bomb Service of the Terrestrial Forces Command, said all the explosives identified in the course of 2016 dated from World War II.
One of the largest operations was carried out last September, when 69 artillery shells were discovered in a wood in Harbovat village of Anenii Noi district. The explosives were destroyed.
