As many as 1,830 young people will be conscripted into the army to serve a full or a partial term during October 2017-January 2018. The conscription plan is stipulated in a Government decision that was published in the Official Gazette on September 29, IPN reports.
Under the document, up to 1,200 young men will be drafted into the National Army, while at most 580 into the Carabineer Troops. Up to 50 recruits will do their military service for a reduced period.
The same document provides that the conscripts who were drafted in October 2016 – January 2017 and will have done their service in October 2017– January 2018 will be transferred to the National Army reserve. The conscripts drafted for a reduced period in July 2012 will also be discharged in October 2017.
As many as 1,720 draftees were conscripted into the army in April – July this year. The plan was fully carried out.
