Almost 100,000 consumers in the municipality of Chisinau risk being disconnected from the drinking water and sewerage services after ten municipal housing sector managing enterprises asked to terminate the contract with SA “Apă-Canal Chisinau”, said PAS councilors, who asked to create a working group, IPN reports.

In a news conference, councilor Vasile Grădinaru said that together with the termination of the contract, “Apă-Canal Chisinau” will be unable to supply water to the apartments managed by the ten municipal enterprises. These asked to terminate the contract, while the owners of the 4,500 apartments managed by them haven’t been at least information about the taken decision. Under the contract, in 30 days the ACC will not have a legal reason to provide services to these consumers.

As the dwellers didn’t sign individual contracts for the supply of water, they will be disconnected from the water supply system. If the company continues to supply water in the absence of a contract, losses of over 2.5 million lei will be sustained monthly, while the housing sector managing enterprises, which are in the insolvency process and are managed by liquidators, will continue to collect money for the supply of water from dwellers.

PAS councilor Ina Coșeru said the Chisinau City Hall didn’t take steps to remedy the situation even if it was informed about this on January 15. “Not “Apă-Canal Chisinau” should deal with this problem or ensure the proper functioning of municipal enterprises, even if they are in the insolvency process, but the mayor general, as the situation is rather serious and the citizens risk remaining without water,” she stated.

The councilors asked to constitute a working group and to call the general assembly of “Apă-Canal Chisinau” so as to take a crisis decision in the created decision. They also requested to convoke the Chisinau Municipal Council not later than February 1-2 so as to adopt all the decisions needed to implement the action plan for solving this problem.
