Allowances for children who remained temporarily without parental care

The Government approved amendments to the regulations concerning the setting and payment of allowances for adopted children and children under guardianship/tutelage. Thus, from January 1, 2017, monthly allowances for the maintaining of children under guardianship/tutelage will also be paid to children who remained temporarily without parental care, IPN reports.

The allowance will be paid up to the child’s age of 18 or, if this continues studies at lyceum, until the lyceum studies are completed.

An additional sum of 6 240 000 lei will be needed annually for paying such allowances to children who remained temporarily without parental care.

There are now 650 officially registered children who remained temporarily without parental care. This status is given to children whose parents died, were deprived of parental rights or were declared incompetent by court decision or whose parents are listed missing or abandoned the children.
