Alliance partners partly support Ghimpu's proposal to review founding agreement
The proposal by Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu to review the founding agreement of the Eurointegration Alliance is supported by the partner parties, yet not it its entirety.
Mihai Ghimpu stated today that in a new formula, he should get the post of Prime Minister, Vlad Filat that of Speaker of Parliament and Marian Lupu should remain the Alliance's choice for President.
“Today's proposal isn't a surprise, because earlier we also advanced this proposal to review the Alliance's founding agreement, including in what concerns the distribution of responsibilities within the government”, stated Lib-Dem faction leader Valeriu Strelet, adding: “as for the proposal on the PM post, I think it's up to society to say who's a better Premier, Vlad Filat or Mihai Ghimpu”.
Democrat faction leader Dumitru Diacov refrained from commenting on Mihai Ghimpu's proposal concerning the redistribution of top government posts, suggesting it was an uncalculated remark. “I think Mr. Ghimpu made this remark in passing. These things ought to be discussed seriously. If Mr. Ghimpu has some worthy ideas, they should be first discussed in the Alliance's Council”.
